The climate change of man-1 by Elizabeth Kolbert

It is discovered that several research groups and scientists have explored different islands to see the effect of climate change in the regions. It is noted for example, that for the Inupiat village located in the island of Shishmaref, life has changed dramatically. The ice and the climate changes has led to people there, changing drastically their lifestyles in which reveals a hold on the responsibilities of people living in the village and people stepping out of their comfort zones. A type of climate change that changed the lives of these people were the storms, which not only forced these people to move and leave their homes and memories behind them, but for these actions for survival to under take, the village had to spend a lot of money to re-locate and even to repair what was destroyed. In addition the shift from snowmobiles to the use of boats shows the huge impact the climate had on society.
While the National Academy of Sciences did their research to raise awareness of the effects of climate change, the American Geophysical Union disagreed and did not see the effects of the climate and its huge impact on society. Methods used to gain this research done by the scientists and explorers include studying the frozen ice and the change from ice to water, the temperature increase or decrease, studying ice wedges, using the spectroradiometer to see the incident and reflected light towards the sun and the earth and even the changes of the weather throughout the different seasons, greenhouse gases and the permafrost. Within this research the idea that was people tend to ignore what may be the most important. Alaska is known to be permafrost and as a result of the ice and the climate the trees were shifted in different positions and moved from their natural habitat in this case position. As the trees were affected by the weather the term, “drunken tree” was found. It was discovered that the permafrost will be alright and at equilibrium when the temperature is normal and not un-balanced. The shift in the layers and the production of plants has led to an increase in the amount of carbon dioxide and methane in which has affect the balance of the permafrost. The change of the types of animals that were assumed to lived there has shown how due to the climate, not only humans have had a rough impact. The climate change has and will affect every existing life on the earth. When the hopes of finding an ice floe in the Beaufort Sea and none were found this was a disappointment not only in the fact that this occurrence was abnormal but also the explorer’s research was delayed.
The Sea ice exploration showed the cycle of snow to slush to water and the shift of the darkness and sunlight with the measure of the incident and the reflected light with the spectroradiometer. The fact that the shift in the seasons presented snow in the spring is a result of the data collected from the spectroradiometer. Ice sheets have re-located in different regions and many have reached near the earth’s mantle and as the ice sheets decreased the production and appearance of carbon dioxide as a result increased. Therefore as the temperature changes from warm to cold and cold to warm then the green house gases levels increases also. The green house gases are seen to be not transparent to radiation which has shown to reveal aspects of climate change. The Des Groseilliers expedition revealed that the Arctic may mostly likely be non existent by the year 2080. If this does happen then the world will continue to reduce. Climate change which has affected us all might be fixed if the people can do things by re-balancing the energy in earth and space to be aligned. Discussion about the outcome of what will be of life if the amount of carbon dioxide increases and if the temperature continues to rise is, massive.
Greenland is another place that has been majorly affected because of climate change through the ice sheet. As the years progressed the ice formed began to build up from the snow and then later the ice split and started to spread a part. The temperature has increased as a result which led to the collapse of ice sheets also. The levels of the sea over the years has risen tremendously and research has led scientists to believe that the sea and the amount of carbon and other climate change is bound to continue to increase if nothing in done to help stop climate change.
Even with all the research of different regions and islands the cause for climate change is truly not one hundred percent accurate as yet. The act of research and the movement made to find ways to preserve the areas that are decreasing and the lives that have changed is on the way. There are people now for example, the Icelandic Glaciological Society who are working towards protecting the glaciers that have been affected by climate change. With everywhere and everyone that has been affect by climate change, there is still hope for the increasing temperatures and carbon dioxide to decrease. If people do more to help decrease climate change and spread awareness then things may change. Also the fact that people have also contributed to climate change, is something people should think about.
